Marina del Rey surges into the future with solar

For 50 years, Marina del Rey—a full service marina in Orillia—has provided services to boaters on Lake Simcoe. Having earned a 5 Anchor Diamond rating from the Boating Ontario Clean Marine program, Marina del Rey continues to move forward and support their dedication to high environmental standards with the installation of a 250KW solar system on the boat house roof. The solar system is being installed under the Feed in Tariff program which sends electricity generated back to the power grid to support the general hydro supply.

Excitement around the project is building as the panel installation and ground wiring is now complete. Production is scheduled to commence in February once the inverters and generators are connected and in place. The project was inspired by the global increase in the popularity of solar power. Roof space at the marina seemed an obvious place to install panels.

The entire project falls perfectly in line with Marina del Rey’s environmental principles and belief that supporting a growing demand for hydro in an environmentally-responsible manner is the right thing to do.

Check back in the spring for more updates on Marina del Rey’s solar project once the installation is complete and power production begins.
